Amsterdam Monday 11th May 1998 Day 7 HOT AND SMELLY
|
Brussells was nice in the day but too quiet at night - as we'd been
warned. Staying in a hostel with lots of (apparently) 12-year-old girls
was interesting though. We probably walked round Brussels about 3 times
and I think we saw most of it. Amsterdam, however, was a different matter. Our first night was camping in a tent (!!) and was ironically the best night's kip that I've had so far. Met up with a couple of Scottish alcoholics (like there's another sort) and helped them out with their excess Heineken (when in Rome ...). Met up with Mark and Diana on Friday and in the last few days went to numerous museums (some - World Photo Exhibition, Anne Frank house actually quite interesting and i'm NOT a museum person as people will tell you). Too many English here, too many people speak English which makes the English people EVEN LAZIER than they are already (if that's possible) but that's one of very few criticisms. It is absolutely baking with a warm breeze which makes it just about bearable to walk round the city. Done: Booze, Pedalos on canal (childish but fun), Fungae, Hash, leching at gorgeous blonde women with legs all the way up to their ..., walking for miles and miles and breaking the hotel sink onto my toe whilst washing some jeans - a near fight ensued !! Not done: Porn, punched the living sh*t out of each other - YET ! More likely to get run over by a bike or tram than a car. We've eaten well, spend too much money and we're on our way to the North to stay with some Dutch friends we met skiing. Hope all is well John May see some of you on the evening of Sat 23rd depending on FFC
